"VERÃO NA VILA" OPENS NEW EXHIBITION SEASON AT THE GALLERY
“VERÃO NA VILA” INAUGURA TEMPORADA DE EXPOSIÇÕES NA GALERIA
01.24.2026

On Saturday, 31 January, Portas Vilaseca opens its 2026 exhibition season with the third edition of Verão na Vila, a programme that reaffirms the gallery’s commitment to experimentation and to presenting special projects by invited emerging artists. In 2026, the programme occupies the entire exhibition space with two solo shows that explore, through distinct visual languages, the relationships between light, memory, time and territory.

On the ground floor, Isadora Almeida (b. 1997, Brasília – DF) presents Contraluz, a reflection on the landscape of Brazil’s Central-West region. By placing tension on the relationship between image and memory, present time and recollection, the exhibition brings together 15 paintings that engage with questions of nature, art history and spirituality. The exhibition is accompanied by a critical text by Yuri Quevedo.

On the second floor, amorí (b. 1995, Ribeirão – PE) presents radiante radiante clarão, with a critical text by Ariana Nuala and Rita Vênus. The exhibition brings together paintings and sculptures that investigate the ground, the sky and the forces that connect them, conceiving space as an active field of reading and transformation. Drawing on references to the Zona da Mata region of Pernambuco, observations of natural cycles, and technical knowledge related to agriculture and construction, amorí proposes a reflection on matter, light and time as inseparable instances. Amid excavated surfaces, low horizons and supporting structures made of wood and latex, the exhibition constructs threshold landscapes in which the visible never fully settles and brightness emerges as a signal, never as definitive revelation.

As a parallel event to the exhibition programme, Verão na Vila also hosts the launch of the book Outras 210 garrafas [Another 210 bottles] by artist Claudia Hersz, with an introductory text by curator Fernanda Lopes, who will take part in the event alongside the artist. The publication brings together and analyses the legal process surrounding the registration of Hersz’s work of the same title, conceived as a parody of 210 Coca-Cola Bottles (1962) by Andy Warhol. Created in 2003 as an installation, the work proposed a critical update of discussions around United States interference in global political and economic dynamics, taking the invasion of Iraq and the appropriation of oil resources in the Middle East as its starting point. With the book launch at the beginning of 2026, the work is reactivated, establishing a direct dialogue with more recent geopolitical disputes, such as those involving Venezuela and Greenland.

The event will also feature a DJ set by Fred Pellachin.
