We are very pleased to announce the participation of artist Nádia Taquary in the 36th São Paulo Biennial, which will be held from 6 September 2025 to 11 January 2026.
Born in Salvador, where she lives and works, Taquary highlights the central role of Black women and the legacies of African cultures in her work, using sculpture, installation and watercolour as ways of expressing ancestral wisdom. The artist is currently featured in several international exhibitions, including Spiritual Form at El Museo del Barrio in New York, and Musafiri: Of Travellers and Guests, on show at Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) in Berlin, Germany. In Brazil, she is featured at MUNCAB–Salvador with her acclaimed solo show Ònà Irin: Caminho de Ferro, which will also be presented in August at Sesc Belenzinho in São Paulo.
Inspired by the work of Conceição Evaristo and guided by the concept “Not Every Wanderer Walks the Roads – Of Humanity as Praxis”, this year’s edition of the Biennial is curated by Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, alongside a curatorial team composed of Alya Sebti, Anna Roberta Goetz, Thiago de Paula Souza, and Keyna Eleison.
Congratulations, Nádia
