Seven years after his last solo exhibition in the capital of Pará, artist Marcone Moreira returns to Belém with “Atravessamentos“, on view at the traditional Galeria Theodoro Braga until 11th November.

Based in Marabá, a city located between the Tocantins and Itacaiúnas rivers, Marcone’s practice is deeply shaped by the landscape, the riverine dynamics, and the naval universe of the Amazon region—references that have permeated his work since the 1990s.

Curated by Marisa Mokarzel, the exhibition brings together works from different periods and in diverse media—paintings, sculptures, photographs, and installations—that intertwine around this universe. Among them are recent paintings from the Travessias series, in which the artist uses acrylic resin and charcoal to reflect on the burnt forest, solitude, and the poetic force of the Amazonian landscape.
