MULAMBÖ AND JULIA DEBASSE PARTICIPATE IN THE ‘OCEAN’ EXHIBITION AT THE MUSEUM OF TOMORROW
MULAMBÖ E JULIA DEBASSE PARTICIPAM DE “OCEANO – O MUNDO É UM ARQUIPÉLAGO” NO MUSEU DO AMANHÃ
12.17.2025

On view from 17 December 2025 to 19 May 2026, the exhibition Ocean – The World Is an Archipelago, at the Museum of Tomorrow, proposes a sensitive and critical reflection on the relationship between humanity and the sea, bringing together art, science, technology and ancestral narratives. Curated by Fabio Scarano, the exhibition is structured around the axes of memory, attention and anticipation, establishing a dialogue between human intelligence and what is referred to as ocean intelligence.

Among the participating artists are Mulambö and Julia Debasse, whose works offer singular approaches to the imagery and experience of the ocean.

Mulambö presents a group of 15 small paintings on wood in which he articulates his vital and affective relationship with the sea. Born in Saquarema (RJ), the artist evokes the ocean as a territory of memory, formation and belonging, translating into images his everyday coexistence with the maritime landscape and its symbolic layers.

Julia Debasse, in turn, contributes works that deepen her pictorial research focused on the creation of extraordinary figures and situations. Her practice investigates the hallucinatory and fabulatory dimension of painting, constructing scenes that tension reality and imagination and expand the perception of the ocean as a space of projection, myth and transformation.

More than conveying data or diagnoses, the exhibition invests in sensorial experience as a tool for transformation, proposing an affective reconnection with the sea and with what it represents as the origin, link and shared horizon of life on Earth.
