EM RESIDÊNCIA NO PIVÔ SALVADOR, MULAMBÖ APRESENTA ATELIÊ ABERTO
04.25.2026

Pivô Salvador invites the public to the Open Studio of artist Mulambö, currently in residence at the institution alongside Thaïs Zakï Tembo, next Monday (April 27), starting at 4 pm. Mulambö’s participation is part of the Pivô Imersão 2026 program and marks an important moment in the development and presentation of his recent research.

The program includes a conversation between the artists, mediated by curator Uriel Bezerra, who has been closely following their stay and creative processes throughout the residency. The dialogue proposes connections between their practices, trajectories, and investigations, drawing parallels between the works developed during this period.

During the event, Mulambö will share developments from his recent production, created based on his experience in the Salvador residency. His work weaves together narratives that emerge from the histories and experiences of his territory, shaped by the idea that “there is no museum in the world like our grandmother’s house.” The residency at Pivô enhances these investigations by fostering exchanges with the city—its collections, artists, and exhibition circuits—expanding the reach and layers of his practice.

The processes of Thaïs Zakï Tembo will also be presented. Her research addresses body, territory, mining, water, and historical memory from a critical and situated perspective. A writer and researcher, the artist works across sculpture, performance, video, and writing.

Anticipating this moment a bit, it is interesting how the residency context activated this unexpected encounter between the two—both translators of the sculptural gesture—and, at the same time, how each has engaged with new questions about their own work, whether in more formal or technical terms, or in relation to its circulation,” comments Uriel Bezerra.

The residency is part of the Pivô Imersão 2026 program, whose participants were selected through an open call, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to fostering research and experimentation in contemporary art.
