Portas Vilaseca is pleased to announce that “Doom” (2021), a video by artists Randolpho Lamonier and Victor Galvão, has been selected for the Frieze x ICA 2025 Artists’ Film Programme in London.

For the third consecutive year, Frieze and the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) collaborate to curate a programme of artists’ film and moving image coinciding with Frieze London. From 13 to 19 October, the ICA’s Upper Gallery will host daily drop-in screenings on a continuous loop, with all films also available for global streaming via ica.art until 31 October.

Lamonier and Galvão’s work will be featured alongside films by Hannah Black, Toby Cato, Marianne Fahmy, Luke Fowler, Nicholas Galanin, Aline Motta, Ebun Sodipo, Martine Syms, and Jessica Wilson. This year’s programme gathers new and recent works that span animation, archival excavation, sound, and performance, moving between intimate portraits and collective histories to explore resistance, love, and transformation through both poetic and political lenses.

Created during an art residency in Itabirito (Minas Gerais, Brazil), “Doom” merges animation, performance, and collage to construct a fragmented narrative rooted in atmospheres and sensations. Using everyday materials, the artists reflect critically on the perception of time, rejecting both past and future in favor of an unstable present, where error becomes a form of learning. Evoking ruin, urgency, and collapse, the video proposes a poetics of resistance through visual and symbolic experimentation, addressing the uncertainties of contemporary life.
