This exhibition is part of the third edition of ‘Verão na Vila’, a program that kicks-off Portas Vilaseca’s annual exhibition season featuring special projects by invited emerging artists.

‘Contraluz’ ( literally ‘backlit’ ) presents several works by Isadora Almeida: paintings in which light permeates the solidity of things, drawing our gaze from the surface into the interior of the canvas and setting the distances between the elements in the landscapes. Distances that are also drawn from recollections: as she paints from her own memories, Almeida lets light shine in between things remembered and things forgotten, leaving some parts of the canvas in a state of suspension; gaps where the weave of the raw fabric is left visible or places where the surface is covered with just a thin layer of light paint.
